Peter Wicks says he and Alison Hammond are "enemies" as he announces a career change

Peter Wicks has said that he and Alison Hammond are 'enemies' as he provided his fans with a major career update.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star is one of the UK's most popular TV personalities. He's best known for his close friendship with former I'm A Celebrity winner Sam Thompson.

A major hit for Pete has been his U+W series Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake. The series, which premiered in 2025, follows Pete as he volunteers at Dogs Trust rehoming centres.

Showing a softer side to Pete, the programme has already released three series in spite of only being over a year home. Pete has now confirmed that a fourth series should be released later this year.

Speaking on his and Sam's Staying Relevant podcast, Pete shared that he's set to start filming the fourth series later in the month. Additionally, he had his say on Alison having a similar series to him.

"I start filming for series four in two weeks time, and Battersea are currently filming with Alison Hammond For The Love Of Dogs, my enemy in the TV world. But it just goes to show how amazing these charities are," he said.

2024 saw Alison replace the late Paul O'Grady on ITV's For the Love of Dogs. Paul was the face of the series filmed at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home up until his death in 2023.

Alison has now been seen across two six-episode series meeting members of the facility's staff and the dogs in their care. Each episode showcases a few of the dogs who come to Battersea as strays or because their owners can't look after them anymore, and follows each dog's progress through the home.

Announcing her show was coming back last month, Alison said: "I'm absolutely over the moon to be heading back to Battersea. My heart was truly stolen by the brave pups I met last time and I've been itching to get back, roll up my sleeves, and help these gorgeous animals find the love they deserve.

"There's a special kind of magic in seeing a dog's tail wag for the first time after a tough start and I can't wait to share that with everyone at home."

Meanwhile, Pete previously said that he is hoping to become the new Paul O'Grady, in spite of him not fronting the telly icon's programme. He told The Mirror: "Am I the new Paul O'Grady? It would be a privilege.

"He's an icon, a national treasure. What he did for dogs, the love that he showed, you don't find very often. It's an absolute honour to even be put in the same sentence as someone like that...

"Whenever you watched Paul with dogs there was genuine love and care. I'm the same, and I think that's where the comparisons come from. I met him once at an awards ceremony, and I was star struck. He probably had no idea who I was. He was a really lovely man. And whenever you think of him, you think of dogs. That's what I hope for."

Having her say on the comparisons between her and Pete, Alison previously told The Guardian: "People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For the Love of Dogs. He might be, but I'm doing it. Deal with it! I know my worth. Besides, my mum would have been so proud. That's why I do this. She's my guiding light."
